StoriesThanks to Your Support Ten year old Ryan R. is able to keep a very busy schedule, thanks to your support of the Help A Little One Foundation. Every day he goes to public school in Framingham, MA, where he also receives speech, vision, and occupational and physical therapies. On Tuesdays he travels to therapeutic horseback riding, and on Thursday evenings there’s extra OT and PT. Most Sundays Ryan also attends church with his mother, Monica, and brother Neil, 15. Born two months prematurely, Ryan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was nine-months old. He is legally blind, but can finger feed and sit with support. The Help A Little One Foundation assisted Ryan’s family with their purchase of a Conviad Basic Cruiser Transport Wheelchair. “The chair makes it so much easier to transport Ryan to where we need to take him,” said his mother. Since the chair is collapsible, it can be kept in the trunk of the car, eliminating the need for a handicapped accessible van, she explained. The family is always on the lookout for new treatments to maintain and improve Ryan’s muscle tone. They have received support from other sources to try hyper baric oxygen therapy in Florida each year. “I want him to do all he can,” his mother said. |
